CASTING WITH PEWTER
CASTING WITH PEWTER
in this workshop you will learn how to melt the pewter in a crucible and then how to pour it safely into a mould to form and object or piece of jewellery. We will show you also the technique of casting into sand and how to make a sand cast of your own object where suitable. You will be shown how to finish and polish your items too.
HANDBUILDING TECHNIQUES – COILING AND ALTERING
HAND BUILDING TECHNIQUES - SLAB BUILDING
In these classes we will teach the ancient technique of coiling pots and all the possiblities this method offers. Once you have mastered the technique fully almost anything is possible in combination with other techniques. We will also introduce piercing and carving techniques and show how texture can be added too.
You need to bring an apron, not mind getting your hands and other bits covered in clay - and have a creative drive to learn.

In these classes we will teach techniques to use for flatware and vessels and ways of embellishing your final pieces. We will teach draping methods and the use of press moulds to form your pieces as well as finishing techniques including texture and resist.
You need to bring an apron, not mind getting your hands and other bits covered in clay - and have a creative drive to learn.

MAKE 3 SILVER STACKING RINGS
MAKE 3 SILVER STACKING RINGS
In this workshop you will be taught how to form and solder 3 silver stacking rings to fit your chosen size. You can choose from several texture tools to embellish the rings and you will be taught how to vary the style between them.
Perhaps it would be useful to bring some ideas and visuals with you to help you to decide what to make.
All materials are included.

MAKE A 20 CM DIAMETER DRUM LAMPSHADE
In this class you will be taught how to make a professionally finished 20 cm drum lampshade in fabric of your choice or a fabric we can supply. We need 2 weeks notice to order fabric from our own range printed to size. You will be shown how to cut out and roll the shade and how to finish off to a high standard.
Full details of materials suppliers will be given so you can carry on making shades at home.

MAKE A COPPER FOIL BUBBLE GLASS PENDANT
MAKE A COPPER FOIL BUBBLE GLASS PENDANT
You will learn how to cut and fuse your own pendant and how to add the turquoise bubble to it. We use a microwave kiln for this class. You will be taught how to cut and shape the glass and then how to finish the pendant off using the copper foiling technique used in stained glass making. We will explore making different shapes but often the kiln will ultimately decide on the outcome so please be prepared for the unexpected.

MAKE A COPPER FOIL SEAGLASS PENDANT
In this workshop you will learn the copper foiling techniqe that is usually used in stained glass to form a precious find of seaglass or sea pottery into a wearable pendant.
You are welcome to bring a piece or two you have found yourself of choose from our collection here.
MAKE A SILVER BANGLE WITH HANGING CHARM
In this workshop you will learn to make a silver bangle and how to make this to size. You will have the opportunity to add texture and a hanging charm of your choice before finally soldering.
All materials are included and you can bring a charm or your choice if you prefer in addition to making one.
MAKE A SMALL STAINED GLASS SUNCATCHER
As an introduction to stained glass this course will offer tuition in how to make a small stained glass suncatcher of simple design using offcuts of glass we have in the studio. The copperfoiling technique will be taught as well as how to cut and shape the glass to size. You will be taught to solder the pieces together neatly and shown how to add a suitable mount for hanging.
The maximum size of suncatcher is 10 cms in this class to ensure there are enough raw materials for everyone to use.
MAKE AN ANIMAL LAMPBASE WITH VINTAGE BULB
Using various handbuilding techniques including coils and slabs you will be taught how to make an animal lamp base which will allow a vintage bulb fitting to be held in a way of your choice. The piece will be made in craft crank hand building clay and there is a choice of colours for the flex and bulb.

Would you like to learn how to make animals in clay - and in particular a scuplture of your special pet? In this class you will learn all the appropriate techniques to do so!
Please bring an apron and some picures or drawings of your pet from all angles and we will guide you through the rest.
